DC Start Here: Nightwing Leaping Into The Light #1

Jump into the neon-lit, high-octane streets of Blüdhaven with DC Start Here: Nightwing - Leaping Into The Light #1. Written by the fan-favorite, New York Times bestselling author Tom Taylor (Injustice) and paired with the famously dynamic, eye-popping visual choreography of artist Bruno Redondo (Suicide Squad), this budget-priced reprint issue serves as the perfect launchpad into the definitive modern era of Dick Grayson.

Dick Grayson is tired of operating in the dark. Leaving Gotham City behind, the original Robin has firmly carved out his own legacy as Nightwing, the protector of Blüdhaven. But the city is more corrupt than ever, strangled by the ruthless crime boss Blockbuster and a newly elected mayor who shares a dark, secret history with the Grayson name.

When a massive financial inheritance suddenly falls into Dick's lap, he makes a radical decision: he isn't just going to fight crime as a masked vigilante—he's going to use his multi-billion-dollar fortune to systematically fix Blüdhaven's broken system from the inside out. Combining heartfelt heroism, incredibly fluid superhero acrobatics, and the introduction of a lovable, three-legged shelter pup named Haley (affectionately dubbed "Bitewing" by fans), this first chapter sets a bright, optimistic tone for DC's most beloved acrobat.

Part of DC Comics' popular "Start Here" initiative, this standalone single issue gathers the critically acclaimed opening segment of Taylor and Redondo's award-winning run into an incredibly affordable format. It provides everything necessary to understand Nightwing's status quo, his deep bonds with the Bat-family, and his evolving relationship with Barbara Gordon (Batgirl)—all without demanding any previous reading history.
